Democracy is under siege—even from established democracies. As funders and supporters of think tanks, you are navigating an increasingly complex landscape. How can you effectively support independent research and policy work in authoritarian or fragile contexts?
- Moderator: Estefanía Terán Valdez
- Expert provocation: Enrique Mendizabal
- Respondent: Goran Buldioski, Senior Adviser, OTT and former funder of TTs for Open Society Foundations
- Source article: As the world turns authoritarian: Strategies for think tanks and their funders
In this short, to-the-point webinar, we will use the following format: a provocation with a response from experts on our side. Then, we invite you, the funders, to share your thoughts, approaches, and challenges. At the end, we will summarise the conversation. More importantly, we will produce a short list of key DOs for funders supporting think tanks in authoritarian contexts, which will be shared with you shortly after the webinar.
We will employ the Chatham House Rule, offer a safe space, and focus on learning and sharing. We will not invite any former, current, or future grantees, as we would like this webinar to be solely dedicated to think tank funders and supporters. We offer other formats and events for think tanks, such as our OTT Annual Conference.
Join us for a fast-paced, to-the-point webinar designed exclusively for funders and think-tank supporters.
