For the first time in Africa, learn how to gather personal stories and how to use them for communications, public relations and insights!

Stuart Rothgiesser will lead a two-day training to provide the necessary skills and knowledge in collecting and using autobiographical stories for a wide variety of purposes.

The training is targeted at content producers (advertising professionals, videographers, journalists, copywriters, PR and advocacy professionals) and research practitioners (NGOs, marketing and social sciences).

By the end of this training, participants will learn:

  • What makes for a good story?
  • Story collection practice:
    1. How to build rapport
    2. Using your intuition (listening for the silences)
    3. Empathetic listening
  • The ethics of story collection: incl. permissions – what they are and how to obtain them
  • Using personal stories for communications, change and advocacy:
    • Communications campaigns that use personal storytelling
    • Communications products (podcasts, videos, animation and more) that use personal stories
    • Storytelling for change: facilitation and training using personal storytelling
  • And much, much more!

The training  will be conducted by Stuart Rothgiesser, founder and MD of Roth Communications,  along with special guests.

Stuart has been working with personal stories since 2008, when he co-founded Share a Story, an online personal story compendium. He holds a Masters degree in Social Anthropology and is a very experienced communications professional.
