Free webinar: Designing think tank event experiences

Organised by On Think Tanks
Event type Courses
Location Online
Start date 10 May 2018 1 PM GMT

Events are an integral part of think tanks’ communication efforts. They offer an inimitable way to engage people in the mission of your think tank, attract funders, deepen relations and express opinions to enhance uptake of your research and drive impact across policy areas.

It is therefore disheartening when events go wrong. Organisers have become accustomed to blaming technology but, in truth, we all know that poor planning is at the heart of uninspiring events.

What simple design tools could be applied to take a more purposeful approach to planning and executing an event? How may you create a positive experience for different attendees of your event? What moments can you craft into the event that enable impact long after the event has finished?

Join Melanie Rayment for a two hour webinar to discuss the think tank event experience and learn some basic, practical tools and approaches that could enhance your next event.

Trainer

Melanie is a Design Strategist and Social Designer. She uses design-led practices to approach complex social issues in a cross-sector way, and works with organisations to enhance their problem solving capability and guide strategic change in a human-centred way. She co-designs policy, interventions, services, change and engagement programs to achieve public impact and the organisation’s mission.

Melanie has 15 years’ experience in both the private and public sector. Her commercial experience includes working with global brands and agencies and during her time with the ‘big four’ management consultants, across Sydney, Tokyo, and London, Melanie applied design to large-scale organisational, customer and industry challenges. She has spent time as a university teacher in Design for Social Impact and worked at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in a transdisciplinary approach with citizens, governments, and NGOs to co-develop mission-based approaches to social innovation across an array of policy issues.
