The position

The Executive Director is the chief executive officer and chief spokesperson of the institute. He/she reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for ensuring that the institute delivers on its vision and mission, implements the approved work programme and leads the fundraising programme and external relations.

He or she is expected to provide intellectual and managerial leadership with skills in planning, analysing and coordinating the institute’s activities as well as establishing priorities. He or she must have a great passion and ability for advocating evidence-based research and capacity-building for the economic and social transformation of Africa/Nigeria.

Qualifications

A suitable candidate should have at least a good Masters degree in Economics or any of the social or management sciences. A PhD will be an advantage.

The candidate is expected to have at least five years’ experience at a management level in a research, training or policy institution, with strong research and publications records; excellent writing and speaking skills; experience in fundraising, good working relations with international development/donor agencies and ability to manage projects and partnerships especially in coordinating the network of Associate Fellows.

An ideal candidate is expected to be a great team player, with ability to multi-task and work under pressure.

Remuneration

The remuneration and terms of service are competitive and negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience. The tenure is usually for a term of five years.
