We, the undersigned think tanks and policy research organisations from across the world, write to express our profound alarm and unequivocal condemnation of the ongoing assault on Gaza, which amounts to a genocide against the Palestinian people.
As institutions dedicated to truth, evidence, and the defence of human dignity, we cannot remain silent in the face of mass civilian killings, forced displacement, systematic destruction of homes and infrastructure, and the deliberate targeting of conditions necessary for life.
The plight of Palestinians extends beyond Gaza. Across Palestine, entire communities live under occupation and siege, deprived of fundamental rights.
Within this context, Palestinian think tanks and research centres struggle daily to continue their work; often under conditions of extreme hardship, censorship, and the direct threat of violence. Their voices are essential. As fellow institutions, we have a duty to defend their right to exist, to research, and to speak truth to power.
Think tanks exist to inform policy with evidence and reason. Today, evidence makes clear what political euphemisms attempt to obscure: we are all witnessing a genocide unfold. Our role obliges us to confront lies, misinformation, and deliberate distortions that seek to normalise or justify the destruction of an entire people.
We therefore call upon our governments, international organisations, and civil society everywhere to:
- Uphold international law, take meaningful action to stop the slaughter and pursue
accountability for crimes against humanity. - Ensure that misinformation and false narratives do not silence the reality of what is unfolding.
- Support Palestinian think tanks and research institutions that are under existential threat to play a central role in rebuilding their society.
We urge think tank leaders everywhere to add their organisations to this statement and to stand together in defence of humanity.
