As its Head of Media & Communications, you will be responsible for leading and integrating the RSA’s media and communications function, comprising the press office, social media and wider communications tools with an emphasis on proactive and positive media management in order to enhance the RSA’s reputation for impact.

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs, you will play a senior and strategic role within the RSA developing and managing the delivery of an effective multi-channel media strategy to secure significant national and international coverage, providing public relations advice across all RSA departments, and positioning the RSA at the centre of numerous national debates. You will also work closely with the Head of Digital and Head of Marketing to build on the RSA’s reputation as a powerful communicator.

Key tasks (amongst others) will include designing and delivering a media strategy and implementation plan for RSA projects and initiatives; communicating pro-actively with the media; overseeing the preparation of concise messages; working closely with senior colleagues to ensure that consistent messaging and brand identity is well executed.

A creative and strategic thinker, you must have excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience running a successful multi – channel media office in a complex and busy environment, with an ability to work under pressure for sustained periods while also maintaining good judgement In return you will play a key role in shaping the RSA’s future profile and impact.

The ideal candidate is someone who has the capacity to think analytically and imaginatively and to develop new and innovative approaches to external affairs.
