We are looking for a committed and talented individual, experienced in work with government, to work with the Director of Evidence to help deliver the analysis and research function of EIF for a period of up to two years.

  • Please the application form by email to Tom McBride, EIF Director of Evidence – CVs will not be accepted
  • Closing date for applications: 23:00, Sunday 11 June
  • Interviews will be held in the week commencing 19 June

This is an opportunity to work at the heart of the What Works network, experiencing the challenge of delivering improved evidence to change policy and practice on high profile issues of social policy. You will be expert in the management and delivery to time of complex research projects involving multiple organisations. You will be a flexible self-starter, with excellent skills in research and analysis and in the commissioning and delivery of research and analysis to help inform policy and practice. You will have had experience of collaborating and working with a wide range of stakeholders, including academics, senior officials, politicians and practitioners, and be able to translate complex information into accessible reports and resources.

The successful candidate will lead our programme assessment activity, reviewing the quality and rigour of evidence underpinning interventions designed to improve outcomes for children. You will also lead other technical projects across our portfolio of what works activity, utilising a range of primary and secondary research techniques in order to produce outputs aimed at improving the design and delivery of services by central and local government. Your work will have direct impact on national and local policy-making and practice.

Outside of technical work, the post-holder will also work with the Director of Evidence and other senior colleagues to help shape the strategic direction of the EIF’s research function. You will be accountable for planning and delivery of projects, and will participate in our extended senior management team. You will line manage and be supported by a junior staff.

This post provides an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic organisation close to the heart of policy-making across England. The successful candidate will be an exceptional and committed individual looking to apply their skills and experience to improve outcomes for children, young people and families through the rigorous use of evidence. You will also play a crucial role in ensuring EIF continues to be regarded as a key player in evidence-based children’s policy, by liaising with external research, academic and policy-making communities and by supporting the development of new business.
