SERIES FAQ On Think Tanks School

Are the courses just for persons currently working in a think tank?

The courses have been developed with policy research institutes, research organisations, or think tanks in mind. But the courses apply to anyone interested in applied research and promoting the use of evidence in decision making.

You do not have to work in a think tank to join. Independent consultants and students are welcome! If you have any questions about this please email us at [email protected].

Are the courses face-to-face or virtual?

The courses are all virtual – unless clearly stated. You will need to use the internet to participate.

At what time will the webinars take place?

The webinars will be scheduled to attempt to match most of the participants’ time-zones. To that end, we will have to wait and see who has signed-up.

All webinars will be recorded and shared immediately afterwards in case anyone is not able to join.

What are the technical requirements to participate?

You must have a good internet connection to join the webinars. Still, the webinars will be recorded and shared immediately afterwards.

Links to share the webinars will be shared in beforehand.

For some courses, you should have a project in mind when joining –see the tasks under each course outline. If you have any questions about this please email us at [email protected].

Can we apply as a team for the long course?

Yes. Think tanks (or research centres or teams of any kind) are encouraged to apply as organisations. You can sign-up to the long course and allow each team member to  join the unit more relevant to them.

If you have any questions about this please email us at [email protected].

Can you offer special deals for networks?

We will be happy to discuss options so please get in touch: [email protected]

Why is this not free?

On Think Tanks wants the On Think Tanks School to be sustainable. The registration cost will, in the long run, allow us to further develop the quality and relevance of the courses and develop new interventions.

I have paid but the invoice is from OTT Consulting or Enrique Mendizabal and not On Think Tanks. Why?

Enrique Mendizabal is the founder of On Think Tanks (see About Us). The Paypal account being used is associated to OTT Consulting Ltd, a small firm based in the United Kingdom through which On Think Tanks has been set up and which provides services to think tanks, funders, and others.

OTT Consulting Ltd does not charge any overhead on the registration fees and, besides bank charges, all funds will be used to cover the long-term funding of the School – such as developing new courses.

I cannot use Paypal. Can I pay through Bank Transfer instead?

Yes. Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will provide you with all the information necessary.

I need an invoice. Can you provide one?

Yes. Just send us an email at [email protected] and we will send you an invoice.

Do you offer scholarships?

Yes. Those interested will need to fill an ad hoc form and commit to work on specific tasks to support knowledge generation.

Do you offer a certificate?

Trainers will share an exercise during the course and for an additional fee, your personal exercise will be reviewed by the trainers and you will receive a certificate of completion.

We would like to support the On Think Tanks School. Can we join as funders, partners or facilitators?

Yes. On Think Tanks is a collaboration. The On Think Tanks School is the result of years of collaboration and partnerships. If you would like to join us email us at [email protected] or, if you wish to support the broader On Think Tanks effort, find out how here: Support us.
