The Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR) is an international non-governmental organization that works to harness the power of human rights to inspire fairer and more sustainable economies.
The role
CESR is seeking a dynamic communications professional with a passion for social justice to help shift the narrative about the values underpinning our economies, and the role human rights strategies can play in advancing systemic change. CESR recently embarked on a new organizational strategy which will focus energies over the next three years on envisioning a human rights-based economy and catalyzing action towards it. Communication is critical in advancing this goal and in responding to the challenges of the current context.
Key roles and responsibilities
Under the supervision of CESR’s Director of Strategy and Learning, the primary responsibilities of the Communications Manager include: communications strategy, communications management, and organizational development.
Experience and skills
The ideal candidate will have: a degree in journalism, communications, international relations, social sciences, or a related field; at least five years’ experience in strategic communications in a human rights or social justice environment; knowledge of current and emerging trends in communications strategy, tools, and channels; ability to synthesize ideas and communicate complex or technical concepts clearly and accessibly.

Salary range USD 60 – 75,000, taking into account experience and the cost of living in the person’s location. CESR also offers a range of benefits including health and dental cover, a 401(k) pension scheme, and 22 days paid annual leave in addition to public holidays.
