The International Law Programme is seeking a programme coordinator to play a key role in the delivery of its projects as well as the development and smooth running of the programme through fundraising, accounting and reporting responsibilities, as well as responsibility for event management, overseeing publications and providing research support and general programme administration.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The coordinator will be responsible for programme and project coordination, which will involve working with the Senior Research Fellow to develop the International Law Programme’s work stream. The coordinator will have significant accounting, financial and fundraising responsibilities including drafting and monitoring budgets as well as forecasts and preparing funding applications and grant reports. The coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing the Programme’s international and domestic events including conferences, expert roundtables, discussion meetings and workshops with high-profile participants.
Additionally, the coordinator will be required to provide research support for projects dealing with a number of areas of public international law including international humanitarian law, international human rights law, international criminal law, international refugee law and international arbitration. The coordinator will also be responsible for overseeing publication processes, media and communications, and supervising interns.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of one year’s demonstrated experience in project coordination, events management, publications, media and communications including good knowledge of the Public International Law community in the UK and demonstrated experience of working on international law issues with sensitivity to the policy context.
Candidates must have experience working/volunteering in a legal, paralegal or clerking role in private practice, a government legal service or with the judiciary. Candidates should also have excellent accounting, numeracy and finance skills and demonstrated research skills.
Applicants with a Postgraduate degree (eg. Masters, Juris Doctor) in public international law or law (with a significant public international law component) will have a distinct advantage.
