Our Global Health Programme develops evidence-based solutions for reducing vulnerabilities to health threats and advises and consults high-level national, regional and global partners including WHO, relevant UN agencies, regional bodies and national public health agencies.

The role

The Centre for Universal Health is seeking a research analyst with a keen interest in key global health security issues. This role includes management of projects and research related to One Health, pandemic preparedness and response, health emergencies, biosecurity, and the role of the military in health emergencies, as well as event organisation and rapporteur responsibilities.

This is a varied and fast paced role, where 60% is spent on management, coordination and administrative tasks and 40% on research. A collaborative approach and desire to get involved in all manner of tasks is highly valued! A good understanding of financial administration is important, as you will be handling project budgets and reporting on project’s finances.

Key roles and responsibilities

Project Management:

Support your co-workers in developing the work stream and identifying, planning and developing projects, whilst ensuring objectives, outputs, and completion times. This will include:

  • Assisting in the organisation of meetings, roundtables, simulation exercises and workshops (including, but not limited to, drafting invitations, agendas and logistical notes);
  • Collaborating with colleagues and project partners to ensure effective coordination and communication of plans, progress and outcomes;
    Following the Institute’s and funders’ requirements in regard to administrative and reporting tasks;


  • Supports the Centre’s research activities using mixed methods approaches, including literature reviews, stakeholder mapping and analysis, key informant interviews and focus group discussions, and primary and secondary data analysis;
  • Contributes to key Centre outputs, including journal articles, papers, reports and policy briefs;
  • Prepares and presents research findings in different formats, including presentations;
  • Acts as rapporteur for meetings and events and produces summaries.

Resource and Financial:

  • Tracks budgeted income and expenditure of budgets;
  • Prepares narrative and financial reports.

Publications and communications:

  • Gets involved in the publication process for research outputs;
  • Liaises with the Communications Department for written, film or audio research output.

Experience and skills

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills;
  • You write clearly and persuasively;
  • Experience using Excel spreadsheets and databases;
  • High levels of attention to detail and comfortable working in an environment with changing demands;
  • A phenomenal teammate and collaborator, able to work with people at all levels.
