Position Overview (Centre for Economy and Trade):
Centre for Economy and Trade at CRF aims to shape the policy debate on how to foster a resilient and inclusive global economy. It is a progressive centre devoted to addressing critical global issues within the realms of economics, trade, and commerce.
The Centre of Economy and Trade is accepting applications for the role of Senior Fellow.
The Senior Fellow will report directly to the respective Centre Head of CRF and is expected to conduct in-depth, high-quality public policy research in areas of their expertise; support in publications and engage with stakeholders to promote our events.
Key Responsibilities
Research Management:
- Develop and maintain in-depth expertise in a specific policy area within the economics and trade-related issues.
- Lead meetings, conferences and conduct cutting-edge research, producing regular knowledge reports which include papers, briefs, books, journals and publications.
- Produce scholarly publications, policy papers, and opinion pieces.
- Provide expert commentary and analysis on economic and trade issues.
- Publish extensively in leading journals and contribute to public discourse
- Lead meetings, conferences and conduct cutting-edge research, producing regular knowledge reports which include papers, briefs, books, journals and publications.
- Develop and advocate for evidence-based policy recommendations, influencing decision-makers and driving positive change.
- Synthesize large amounts of information, perform qualitative analysis, and report results to diverse audiences.
Communication:
- Act as a recognized thought leader, speaking at conferences, publishing reports, and contributing to public discourse in your field.
- Engage with other stakeholders including scholars, policymakers, government officials and private players to advocate for our events and enhance communication efforts.
Leadership:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the think tank, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Mentor junior researchers and staff, sharing your knowledge and experience to build a strong research team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in a relevant field related to the policy area of expertise.
- 20+ years of experience in policy research, analysis, and advocacy.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and policy platforms.
- Proficiency in econometric modelling (SPSS and E-views) and data analysis using tools like STATA, R, or Python.
- Strong understanding of international trade theories, WTO agreements, and domestic economic policies.
- Experience in managing personnel, projects, budgets, and grants strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking and media engagement.
- Proven ability to influence policy and public discourse in their area of expertise.
- Ability to interact with and respond to questions from a range of individuals with diverse interests, backgrounds, and dispositions from across a wide spectrum of views on foreign policy and national security.
