Do you want to help run and grow a dynamic and young international development organisation? Will you have ideas for how to improve the effectiveness of a value-driven high calibre team? If so, this position with Kivu International is an ideal opportunity.

Kivu’s mission is to strengthen local policy influencing organisations, such as think tanks, in developing countries. We do not dictate to others how to solve problems: instead we support these local institutions to develop their own solutions. Ultimately this is how to secure sustainable development.

The position of Operations and Development Manager will be critical to the effectiveness and impact of Kivu. You will support us to move to the next level, playing a key role in developing our medium-term growth. As part of a small and experienced team you will provide essential support to the effective day-to-day operation of the organization, but also help drive the expansion of Kivu’s work.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and administrative skills and ability to implement effective systems in a young start-up. They will be highly self-motivated, hands-on, entrepreneurial and value driven – looking for solutions to organisational challenges and to scope new business opportunities.

This is an ideal position a dynamic recent graduate or someone with some experience of start-ups, organisational development and growth. Experience of managing finances is highly desirable, but not essential. Experience of international development is not necessary.

Key areas of responsibility are:

  • New business development: lead role in exploring and developing future work opportunities fort Kivu, working closely with the Directors.
  • Financial management: including overall financial strategy, improving and maintaining financial monitoring and forecasting, financial management of projects and Kivu payments, financial reporting to the Directors
  • Programme and management support: support on Kivu operations and projects.
  • Promotion and communications: including managing Kivu’s website and contributing to wider communications and promotion.

An additional responsibility will be providing ad hoc analytical and research support. It may also involve data analysis to support Kivu’s work with local think tanks. This responsibility for research support will provide variety and opportunities for personal development.

The position would be a permanent position either based in a London office or elsewhere in the UK, on a remote working basis. The salary is competitive and Kivu offers a full package of benefits.

  • Location: UK wide remote working and/or London-based
  • Salary: Up to £27,500 per annum + benefits
  • Hours: Full time
  • Contract: Permanent
