IIED is looking for a research professional to work in its Human Settlements research group.

The researcher will contribute to and develop a programme of work on environment and development issues in urban centres in low- and middle-income countries. Ideally, the programme of work will also be informed by a strong understanding of gender issues in urban contexts.

Candidates should have:

  • Substantial research experience evidenced by a track record of publications of different nature and by roles in international research processes and debates.
  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Proven capacity to engage with debates, processes, actors and institutions in the sustainable development arena relating to human settlements, to influence them and achieve impact.
  • Be fluent in English with excellent communication skills, demonstrated by the ability to negotiate, influence and collaborate with a diverse range of cultures both in writing and verbally.

Contract type: Permanent
Salary: £35,397 – £38,974, with up to £43,977 per annum available depending on experience, plus benefits
