The Third Exchange Meeting: Quito

Although some teams have met 4 times already, as a group we have only had the chance to meet twice: in Lima and in Jakarta. The first meeting marked the beginning of the initiative. This is when we all got to meet each other. The second one marketed the beginning of the collaborative projects. This was the first time that all the teams were able to sit down and start work on their projects.

This time around, we expect to spend some time catching-up with progress and getting down to work.

The agenda (the latest version) for the meeting in Quito (6-10th April 2015), developed in close collaboration with Grupo FARO and the other participants is below:

Wednesday, April 8 9:30 – 11:30 • Public event: Think tank – University Collaboration (approx. 50 participants) Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar
1. Think tank-university relations in Latin America (Más Saber América Latina study) -Grupo FARO .15 min.
2. Importance of think tank-university collaboration from a donor perspective (Peter Taylor). 10 min.
3. Collaboration in Ecuador (university representative) 10 min.
4. The experience of Indonesia, Eastern Europe, other Latin American country (exchange participants) 10 min each (total 30 min.)
5. Open discussion: How to promote more collaboration (30 min.)

This time around, too, we will begin to talk about the future of the initiative. Should it continue into a second phase? Can some of the teams (or pairs within them) take on more intensive and substantive collaborations?

We expect that The Exchange’s future will be shaped by the participants themselves.
