IIPE maintains wide-ranging research activities; has a library in the field of international relations, including the licensed depository library of EU, UN, and NATO publications, and its own publishing house; and is an international relations institute in the Union of Serbia and Montenegro. IIPE is regulated by federal law, which stipulates a close working partnership with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. IIPE's research currently focuses on specific issues concerning the integration of the country into the international community and a redefinition of the international strategy of Serbia and Montenegro. IIPE programs are dedicated to reviving independent and critical research in the field of international relations, based on the presumption that foreign policy grounded upon a genuine respect for democratic principles should lead Serbia and Montenegro into the EU and other international and European structures.
