INESASS was founded as part of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, which is supervised by the Shanghai civil government. The institute carries out research on basic theories and application of world economics and politics, tries to fore cast development trends in the world economy and in world politics based on theoretical analysis and factual research on various countries and regions, and puts forward appropriate proposals concerning China's foreign, economic and political relations and its development strategies.
