KERC was established to engage in wide-ranging research on the socio-economic conditions of the Kyushu region, not only conducting research but also proposing strategies and guidelines for Kyushu's future development. In its early years, KERC undertook research on Kyushu's post-war reconstruction, thus contributing to the development of the Kyushu economy and society. KERC's main aims are: undertake contract research committed by the central and local governments and offer information services to member institutions and the people of Kyushu.
