JILPT is an agency established under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, Labour and welfare. JILPT's mission is to (1) contribute to the planning of labor policies and work toward their effective and efficient implementation; (2) promote the livelihood of workers and the development of the national economy by conducting comprehensive research projects regarding labor issues and policies, both domestically and internationally; and (3) capitalize on the findings of such research by sponsoring training programs for administrative officials.
