IRI, known as the Industrial Research Institute until May 26, 1989, is a nonprofit research institute. In 1964, it opened the Kashiwa Laboratory in Chiba Prefecture for experimental research. The institute's mission and goal are to contribute to economic development, enhance quality of life and promote international cooperation through investigative and experimental research, which can create new industrial technologies and innovative social systems.
