The institute is a privately endowed, nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to developing strategic options and national policy in the areas of security, national unification and foreign affairs. It was launched to contribute to Korea's development in the era of globalization and information technology by conducting practical research and policy analysis on emerging issues. Since its inception, the institute has been active in developing policy alternatives for the promotion of peace, security and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula under the aegis of the Sejong Foundation. It also conducts educational and training programs for government officials, policy makers and business executives.
