Bioversity International is an international research institute with a mandate to advance the conservation and use of genetic diversity for food and agriculture. Bioversity International's purpose is to investigate the conservation and use of agricultural biodiversity in order to achieve better nutrition, improve smallholders' livelihoods and enhance agricultural sustainability. Bioversity International is a member of the CGIAR Consortium and a partner with Rome-based food and agriculture agencies Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and World Food Programme (WFP).
