BIDPA's mission is to inform policy and strengthen capacity through its research and consultancy services. BIDPA's central objectives are to (1) promote and conduct research, analysis, and related development policy issues for Botswana and the Southern African region; (2) monitor the performance of the Botswanan economy and the management of public policy implementation, notably concerning economic and social development; (3) provide advice and consultancy services to governmental agencies and other clients; (4) provide technical and financial assistance, directly or indirectly, to individuals and organizations in Botswana to strengthen policy analysis; (5) assist in the professional training and education of Botswanan citizens concerning policy analysis and encourage collaboration between expatriates and local professionals to strengthen policy analysis; (6) employ staff members who will, on their own or jointly with other organizations or researchers, carry out research, consultancy, training, and educational projects, including the management of contractual relationships with those affiliated to BIDPA; (7) present or publish the outcomes of its policy analysis to individuals, organizations, and the public at large; and (8) mobilize and administer funds to be used for the achievement of these objectives and the functioning of BIDPA.
