The Centre for Research in Environmental Geography (CIGA), is a unit of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) created on August 17, 2007, located in the Morelia Campus. The mission of the centre is to contribute to the territorial planning for the sustainable management (use, conservation and restoration) of natural resources in specific territories, through an integrated program of research, teaching, linking and dissemination of the knowledge, with emphasis on the geographical dimension of the environmental issue in the central-western region of the country.
