Development Innovations and Policy Laboratory

DIP Lab
Los Baños, Philippines

The Development Innovations and Policy Laboratory (DIP Lab) is the first policy laboratory in the Philippines dedicated to the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector. Launched in 2022 as a project funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), DIP Lab is now institutionalised under the Centre for Strategic Planning and Policy Studies at the College of Public Affairs and Development, University of the Philippines Los Baños. DIP Lab aims to bridge the gap between research and public policymaking by transforming robust evidence from AANR research into innovative policy solutions that support societal development. Its activities include capacity-building in policy analysis, communication of policy recommendations, policy research proposal writing, and advocacy. Additionally, DIP Lab offers access to a policy data portal, hosts the podcast Policy Bites, and organises innovative initiatives such as policy hackathons, clubhouse sessions, and a data visualisation competition.
