Private not-for-profit research and higher education institution (and Think Tank) (created in 1944) whose mission is to stimulate and contribute to Brazil’s socioeconomic development. Its main activities include conducting innovative research of high social impact, offering graduate and undergraduate courses, and publishing and retailing scientific journals and books. The Schools and Research Centers at FGV are academically and operationally fully independent units. Each year, these units with their 716 researchers are responsible for producing hundreds of articles and other academic texts which serve as a basis for public debates among researchers and representatives of the public and private sectors.
