The Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research (IAB) in Nuremberg was founded in 1967 as a research facility of the Federal Employment Agency. It researches the labor market. The IAB makes its research results available to the public and gives independent advice to politicians and practitioners. Economists, sociologists, business economists, mathematicians and political scientists are currently working at the institute to cover the broad spectrum of research fields related to the labor market. The research focuses on the areas of labor market policy, regional and international labor markets, the overall economy and institutions, companies, qualifications and professions and social inequality.
