The Institute for Social Research and Social Policy (ISG) is an independent, private economic and social research institute based in Cologne. It was founded in 1952 by Otto Blume at the University of Cologne. The institute conducts empirical social research and scientific advice in the fields of social, labor market and economic policy for public and private clients. The scientific field of work encompasses broad areas of German and European social policy. Their focus is on social assistance and life situation research and economic and labor market policies.
