At the SÖSTRA Institute, economists, labor market researchers and sociologists work together in interdisciplinary teams. The work of the institute is financed exclusively through projects. The SÖSTRA institute conducts research and carries out consulting assignments. The work focuses on questions of employment and labor market development. Since the mid-1990s, evaluation and impact research on employment promotion issues have been another key focus. At the same time, economic development, specifics of the economic and regional environment and the economic and innovation potential of companies are examined.
