The Institute for Social Science Research (ISF) Munich is an independent research institution founded by Burkart Lutz in 1965 in the legal form of a registered association. It is a non-profit institution. It mainly conducts research in the field of work and industrial sociology and carries out empirical studies in companies, in particular with the means of qualitative social research (intensive interviews, case studies), which it combines with theoretical reflection on the development of work and society. Clients include ministries and foundations, the European Union, but also companies and unions.
