The institute maintains a neutral position and is widely respected within the field of future technological research in Japan. The activities of the institute focus on discerning trends in science and technology, and changes and future problem areas in society and in the economy. It plans and proposes solutions to such issues as optimal R&D systems, product development methods and the appropriate uses of technology. The institute will continue to develop its activities so that the fruits of natural scientific and technological development will be of benefit.
