IAE is a research institute for energy issues, established as a juridical foundation under the auspices of leading energy-related corporations and the former Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI). Its major activities are: collect and process information on energy issues in Japan and other countries; review and analyze energy issues from technological viewpoints; to provide information capable of serving as a basis for policy planning and decision making in both the public and private sectors; to study and evaluate various future energy systems and energy-related research and development; and to encourage close communication.
