The "Ion I. C. Brătianu" Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations (ISPRI) of the Romanian Academy was founded in January 1990 under the name of the Institute of Social Theory and Political Science, with the main objective of developing scientific research in the field of social philosophy and political sciences. The institute initially undertook research on the fundamental political changes in Central and Eastern Europe, including Romania, after the fall of communism.
