The Institute of Environmental Law and Economics (IDEA) was founded in 1996. The mission of the organization is "To formulate and promote policies that support integral sustainable development" through the promotion and development of the disciplines of Law and Economics, with emphasis on third generation human rights, using research, extension, counselling, and teaching. The Institute of Environmental Law and Economics has combined since its foundation, the basic research of law related to sustainable development, to cover the scientific and technical needs in the sector, leading the transfer of technology and supporting its development with innovation proposals.
