The Institute of Social Research (IIS) was created on April 11, 1930 with the mission of carrying out scientific studies in the field of social sciences. The Institute of Social Research is made up of 90 researchers and 23 academic technicians. It has seven research areas: Agrarian Studies; Population and Demographic Studies; Urban and Regional Studies; Studies of Education and Science; Political Institutions; Actors and Social Processes and; Society and Culture Likewise, it publishes several publications and magazines, among which the Revista Mexicana de Sociología stands out.
