JCER is a private, nonprofit organization established under the auspices of Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Inc. for the purpose of contributing to the development of the Japanese economy. It conducts economic research, with particular emphasis on economic forecasting and economic analysis including Asian areas; sponsors economic research study courses, seminars, lectures and symposia with the participation of scholars and economists in academia, business and government; trains young businesspeople in advanced economics and research; publishes the findings of its economic projections and research and issues a monthly bulletin; collects books, magazines, newspapers and undertakes research on a contractual basis.
