The Karl Renner Institute is the political academy of the Austrian Social Democratic Party. It is a forum for political discourse, a centre for education and training and a think tank for the future of social democracy. Bruno Kreisky, the initiator of the "Federal Act on the Promotion of Political Education" passed in 1972, was concerned with the quality of political discourse in Austria and with looking beyond its borders. The focus was on motivation for political participation, promotion of young talent and qualification for functions. Interpreting these tasks in a contemporary way and developing attractive, innovative and sustainable political education and discourse offerings are the core tasks of the team.
