KEEI is a research institute that takes the lead in understanding the changing circumstances in the energy industry in Korea and abroad. It has been gearing its research efforts to reflect industry's shift toward a market-oriented paradigm from the government control and central planning regime. In addition to maintaining an essential energy database and developing models for analysis, it has kept an active research interest in pending issues such as electric power and natural gas industry reforms. It has been building a substantial knowledge base aimed at preserving the environment and enhancing energy security through improvements in energy efficiency.
