NIRA is a policy research organization established on the initiative of leaders from the governmental, academic, and business sectors and operates through an endowment from these various sectors. NIRA's main objectives are conduct research from an independent standpoint and to contribute to resolving various complex policy issues in contemporary society. The institute's research covers a wide range of subjects, including politics, economics, international relations, social issues, technology, and local government systems. NIRA actively provides policy research information, conducts exchange with many research institutes in Japan and throughout the world, and supports a range of policy research projects.
