CPU is a special research unit of the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSARG). The unit undertakes examination of complex policy issues, analyzes options and recommends solutions for the consideration of the chief executive, the chief secretary for administration and the financial secretary of HKSARG. It is also responsible for coordinating the preparation of the annual policy address of the chief executive and providing secretariat support to the Commission on Strategic Development, chaired by the chief executive. Each year, CPU organizes several public seminars focusing on different topics of interest. Local and overseas experts are invited to participate.
