PRAXIS's mission is to improve public policy in Estonia by identifying crucial public policy problems in society; carry out innovative, high-quality policy analysis and research; build policy-making capacity within public sector institutions; and foster public policy debate and civic participation. PRAXIS was established with the support of the American philanthropist George Soros and focuses primarily on social and economic research. The center's public policy program includes public policy analysis on specific issues, the development of policy recommendations, and the dissemination of research results to different target groups through newspapers articles, media appearances, roundtable debates, seminars, conferences, and private briefings. PRAXIS has three main research areas: (1) labor and social policy, (2) innovation policy, and (3) education policy. PRAXIS is also involved in other research projects in the fields of housing policy, health policy, good governance, public finance, and SME research.
