Qendra Shkencë dhe Inovacion për Zhvillim

The Centre for Science and Innovation for Development (SCiDEV) is a Tirana-based think tank promoting democratisation and sustainable socio-economic development in Albania and the Western Balkans. Through policy research, advocacy, capacity building, mentoring, and science communication, SCiDEV informs decision-making and fosters collaboration across academia, industry, government, and civil society. SCiDEV operates under four pillars: democracy and governance, media and communication, research-to-society links, and innovation and digital transformation. Its initiatives include strengthening democratic institutions, supporting independent media, promoting digital rights, and empowering youth and women, particularly in STEM fields. SCiDEV also facilitates regional research mobility, knowledge exchange, and diaspora engagement. As a member of regional and international networks, including the Global Forum for Media Development and the SEE Digital Rights Network, SCiDEV advocates for media freedom, digital skills, and evidence-based policymaking. It also coordinates the Network of Albanian Women in STEM and upholds Albania’s Civil Society Organisations Code of Standards to ensure transparency and good governance in its work.
