SAMAK (Arbejderbevægelsens nordiske samarbejdskommitté), or the Joint Committee of the Nordic Social Democratic Labour Movement, assembles the social democratic parties and labour councils in the Nordic countries. SAMAK consists of all social democratic parties and trade union organisations in the Nordic countries, including Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Åland. It was founded in 1886 with the aim of coordinating the political influence of the Nordic Socialist Workers' Movement. SAMAK's mission is to develop joint programs on policy areas such as the EU, welfare, the Nordic welfare model, labor market policy, human rights, globalization and democracy.
