The foundation should commemorate the life and work of the industrialist, essayist and foreign politician Walther Rathenau and make his work and his commitment to basic democratic values, international understanding and tolerance known to a wider public. For this purpose, the foundation promotes political education in the sense of Walther Rathenau, in particular through contributions and research projects in the field of foreign policy. In addition, foreign policy studies on current issues concerning Germany are to be carried out at irregular intervals, which reflect Walther Rathenau's liberal spirit.
