It seeks to dramatically increase the opportunity for female and minority entrepreneurs to start and expand successful businesses. AEE will research barriers for minority-owned businesses, create federal policy solutions to address those challenges head-on, connect academia to national policymaking, and convene thought leaders on issues facing minority entrepreneurs. AEE works alongside Third Way\u2019s Economic Program; a dynamic team focused on devising and advancing policy solutions supporting the American worker.<\/p>\n<h2>The role<\/h2>\n<p>Third Way is seeking a Policy Advisor to join the launch team for our new, multi-year advocacy initiative\u2014the Alliance for Entrepreneurial Equity (AEE)\u2014which will build a more robust and more equitable economy by improving opportunities for female and minority entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<p>The ideal candidate will work with the program\u2019s Director, Senior Vice President, and other colleagues to increase awareness of these entrepreneurs&#8217; barriers among leaders in Congress, the Administration, and advocacy communities to ensure it becomes a leading public policy issue.<\/p>\n<p>The role would involve delivering high-impact research and analysis through written and digital materials, collaborating internally and with external partners to design and enact structural policy change, and convening events on essential topics of interest.<\/p>\n<h2>Key roles and responsibilities<\/h2>\n<p>As the Policy Advisor, a typical day might include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conducting in-depth research and analysis to better understand and explain the barriers facing entrepreneurs of colour.<\/li>\n<li>Authoring written reports and memos that persuasively explain how we can support owners of small- and medium-sized businesses, with an emphasis on women- and minority- entrepreneurs as well as those in left-behind communities.<\/li>\n<li>Analyzing proposed policy ideas and assessing their impact on the United States.<\/li>\n<li>Meeting with a diverse cross-section of external partners, including Hill and Administration staff and leaders in the industry, nonprofits, and academia.<\/li>\n<li>Working with Third Way\u2019s economic, communications, and outreach team members to help plan and execute events and digital collateral.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Experience and skills<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3+ years of experience in small business, financial services, or economic policy with the federal government, a research institution, an advocacy organization, or the private sector.<\/li>\n<li>A passion for expanding opportunities for women and communities of colour within our economic system.<\/li>\n<li>A demonstrated ability to write clearly on complex topics for an audience of non-experts.<\/li>\n<li>Experience balancing short- and long-term projects and meeting deadlines on time with minimal supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Experience building coalitions and managing stakeholder relationships among diverse groups and across a variety of viewpoints.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working professionally with public sector officials, including Members of Congress, the Administration, and the advocacy community.<\/li>\n<li>A graduate degree or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Alliance for Entrepreneurial Equity is a new and exciting joint venture between Third Way and the National Urban League.
