In this role you will work with the team to develop and deliver large and medium scale events including report launches, roundtables and public events for London\u2019s government, business and civic leaders, experts and citizens. You will also support with delivery of our conference events, including our flagship event, The London Conference.<\/p>\n<p>Through this opportunity you will gain a better understanding of how a successful events programme is run, the professional networks that shape policymaking in London, and providing an excellent experience for funders and audience members.<\/p>\n<p>This role would best suit someone who already has some experience in event management and is able to take on responsibility for logistical delivery of a range of events. We will be ramping up our delivery of conferences in 2020-2021, so experience working with teams to deliver large scale events is strongly desired.<br \/>\nWe don\u2019t ask that you are an expert in London policy issues \u2013 though some understanding of would be helpful \u2013 but you will need to be able to learn quickly, think creatively and communicate effectively.<\/p>\n<p>This is either a four day or full-time role; we are supportive of flexible working.<\/p>\n<h2>Key roles and responsibilities<\/h2>\n<p>Events delivery<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organise and deliver public events, report launches and private roundtables through<br \/>\ncreating guest lists, composing copy, creating invitations, administering responses and<br \/>\nliaising with stakeholders including high level speakers.<\/li>\n<li>Support the team with the delivery of larger conference events including researching<br \/>\nand liaising with external contacts such as speakers, contractors, sponsors, venues and<br \/>\nother stakeholders, as well as general logistics and recruiting support staff.<\/li>\n<li>Working with others to develop new ideas for the formatting and content of Centre for<br \/>\nLondon\u2019s events programme, and bring them to life.<\/li>\n<li>Working with Communications team to ensure key messages are communicated through<br \/>\nevents content and impact is tracked<\/li>\n<li>Administer and update the events inbox and Centre for London\u2019s website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Development and Fundraising<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work with others to develop and fundraise for the events programme including<br \/>\nresearching sponsors, speakers and exhibitors, and preparing fundraising proposals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Reporting and record keeping<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that Salesforce, Centre for London\u2019s CRM database, is kept up to date and<br \/>\naccurately reflects the status of fundraising approaches and project delivery in line with<br \/>\nlatest data protection laws.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain and improve Salesforce through adding new contacts, data cleaning, coding<br \/>\ncontacts for relationship management and proactively suggesting improvements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General Responsibilities and Duties<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Undertake the duties of the job description in accordance with the operational policies<br \/>\nof Centre for London, including but not limited to the diversity policy and code of<br \/>\nconduct.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain good working relations with Trustees, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Present the organisation in an appropriate and professional manner to its stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the development and growth of the organisation through working in<br \/>\naccordance with its wider objectives, corporate philosophy and values.<\/li>\n<li>Assist at Centre for London events outside of normal working hours as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Experience and skills<\/h2>\n<p>Experience<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven experience in planning and delivering events, including venue management and<br \/>\nlogistics, to a high standard<\/li>\n<li>Managing relationships with funders, VIP or stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Some experience in fundraising and development (major donors, corporate or<br \/>\ntrusts\/foundations) desirable<\/li>\n<li>Experience of project management an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Awareness of London policy, networks and government, and how to effect change in<br \/>\npolicy making and practice an advantage<\/li>\n<li>Alternatively, relevant experience in a related field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills\/Competencies<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Highly organised. Able to balance and prioritise multiple tasks, often to urgent and<br \/>\ncompeting deadlines.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent attention to detail. Accurately record, recall and execute details such as<br \/>\nsponsor requests, names and titles of key stakeholders, venue requirements and other<br \/>\ndetails.<\/li>\n<li>Professional and confident communication skills (written and verbal). Able to liaise<br \/>\nwith senior people (e.g. speakers, chairs, sponsors).<\/li>\n<li>Excellent customer service skills and ability to assist with high level event attendees,<br \/>\ncreative problem solving on your feet.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent team player<\/li>\n<li>Ability to adapt and learn quickly. Able to show initiative and adapt quickly to new<br \/>\nchallenges.<\/li>\n<li>Strong IT proficiency, including MS Office, Salesforce, MailChimp and WordPress<br \/>\nCMS.
