IPI is dedicated to promoting the prevention and resolution of conflicts between and within states by strengthening international peace and security institutions. To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, convening, publishing and outreach. The Global Observatory provides timely analysis on trends and issues related to global security.<\/p>\n<h2>The role<\/h2>\n<p>IPI is seeking an Associate Editor who will serve as Head of the Global Observatory, IPI\u2019s analysis website. S\/he will ensure a consistent stream of articles from expert contributors and help to create a high-quality publication with timely, informative, and visually appealing content. The position will report to IPI\u2019s Director of Web &amp; Multimedia and Web Editor.<\/p>\n<h2>Key roles and responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Research topics for GO posts and identify potential authors, send pitch emails, and manage pitch correspondences<\/li>\n<li>Manage internal review of articles and set publishing schedule<\/li>\n<li>Manage publishing of pieces and photos through content management system<\/li>\n<li>Write regular GO posts, including monthly Key Events<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate logistics of and conduct GO interviews<\/li>\n<li>Prepare suggested social media content for GO posts<\/li>\n<li>Manage general correspondences, track edits, and copyedit and proofread posts<\/li>\n<li>Track documents related to photos, topics and authors, and assist with issues related to GO subscribers and the GO email blast<\/li>\n<li>Perform related administrative tasks, including expense requests for payment of authors and service providers<\/li>\n<li>Copyedit and proofread other IPI web content as required<\/li>\n<li>Additional responsibilities can be determined by evolving IPI\u2019s priorities, as assigned by supervisor and the President<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Experience and skills<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>3-5 years minimum editing experience, preferably in international affairs<\/li>\n<li>BA or MA in the humanities (especially English or Journalism) or social sciences (especially international affairs).<\/li>\n<li>Outstanding command of English, particularly in writing and editing.<\/li>\n<li>Strong communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational skills and an extraordinary attention to detail.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of international affairs.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of web environments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Peace Institute is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank with a staff representing more than 20 nationalities, located in New York across from United Nations headquarters.
