Theory of change is a buzz term in development work and M&E. But what is it all about? This workshop introduces theory of change as both a product and a process. It is an interactive and practical workshop, where you will be able to formulate a theory of change for a case study you are working on.
Theory of change is a tool that describes a process of planned change, from the assumptions that guide its design, to the planned outputs and outcomes, to the long-term impacts it seeks to achieve. We will also address how theory of change can be derived from other processes such as the logical framework approach.
The workshop will provide a space for development practitioners to learn from each other through sharing of knowledge and experiences.
The event will be run in Cape Town at the Atlantic Imbizo Conference Centre, Clock Tower, V&A Waterfront on the 15 to 16 May 2018.
Outcomes
After completing the course participants will understand:
- Theory of change as a product and a process
- Why theory of change has become so prominent
- How theory of change, logic models, logframes, etc. relate to one another
- The importance of being clear on why change happens- linking pathways of change to programme theories
- How assumptions and pre-conditions build your pathways to change
Participants will also be able to develop a theory of change and draw a representation thereof.
Requirements:
Full participation is required to achieve these outcomes. Dynamic adult education methods are used to stimulate learning.
Cost:
R 5,400 per participant. This includes training, course materials, tea and coffee breaks, and lunches during the two days of the workshop.
