Advancing the legacy of Joseph Schumpeter, ITIF recently launched the Schumpeter Project on Competition Policy for the Innovation Economy, an initiative to develop and promote dynamic, innovation-based antitrust policy.

The role

The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF)—the world’s top-ranked think tank for science and technology policy—seeks a research assistant to support ITIF’s work on a range of antitrust issues related to innovation-based economic policy. ITIF has long focused on this nexus of antitrust issues and now seeks to ramp up its program of activities. This is a permanent, full-time position.

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Support research on antitrust law and/or economics.
  • Conduct case analysis, literature review, research memos to actively contribute to policy reports, articles, and wider research projects.
  • Write blog posts on the law and economics of antitrust policy, with a particular focus on innovation.
  • Help organize events, expand the outreach of the Schumpeter Project.

Experience and skills

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in law, economics, public policy, or political economy.
  • A particular interest in antitrust, competition and innovation policy debates.
  • Strong writing skills, especially an ability to review complex and interdisciplinary topics in the literature, an ability to analyze cases and policy guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills (work productively in a team environment and communicate clearly).
  • Keen interest in and support for technological innovation and innovation policy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects concurrently is essential.
