The Alliance for Useful Evidence is looking for an energetic and bright Researcher to provide research and support to champion the use of evidence in social policy and practice.
Based at Nesta, the Alliance is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund, the Economic and Social Research Council and Nesta. We promote the use of high quality evidence to inform decisions on strategy, policy and practice, with the aim of stimulating the demand and use of evidence in decision making across the UK.
As Researcher you will conduct research to help the Alliance make a difference, working with colleagues to influence politicians, civil servants, charity leaders, frontline professionals and citizen groups, in the UK and internationally.
Key roles and responsibilities
This role will involve conducting interviews, running literature reviews and background research, writing case studies and co-authoring thought-leadership reports. You will also scope out topics and speakers for events and coordinate a small group of UK evidence champions and strategic partnerships, as well as assisting our Learning Services Manager in running a one-day Evidence Masterclass for the UK policy profession and others.
Experience and skills
As you will be an ambassador for the Alliance, it is vital that you have credibility when communicating, conducting or commissioning our research, so you’ll need to be confident with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex research findings to a non-specialist audience. You will bring a proven track record in research relating to policy or practice and will have written and produced substantive reports, blogs, publications, etc. A knowledge of social science and evaluation, including qualitative and quantitative methods and the ability to research and work independently is essential.
